Full Moon Rendezvous and ReflectFeb 27, 2021
It's a full moon tonight. Alhamdulillah.
Here at Cherished Muslimah, we have a loving connection with the moon. The Islamic calendar is lunar - and the full moon represents mid-month, it is a time of beauty, when folk would gather outdoors to enjoy the night sky and the poets would sing poetry.
If it has been possible for you to fast on these 'white' days, as recommended by The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then what a beautiful way to emulate him!
Have a Moon Rendezvous
Go out on a moonlit date with your beloved. Cherished Muslimahs also use these days of beauty to go out and moon bathe and soak the moon rays, allowing them to calm and replenish them. It is time to go outside and walk with your sweetheart, a loved one, or simply alone, in your own beautiful company.
Reflect on the Creator
Reflect on Allah's beautiful names and lofty attributes: Al-Khaliq - The Creator, Al-Bari - The Producer, and Al-Musawwir - Fashioner, and how He has created such perfection and radiance, sing your praises! Know that this moment was created just for you. And the way you see the moon tonight, and the way the moon sees you is your gift from Al Musawwir.
Reflect on the Islamic month
Reflect on what the virtues and specialities of this lunar month are.
- Are there any special days coming up - how can you best observe them?
- As the days of the full moon are known as the 'white' days, try to fast either on the 13,14 or 15 of this lunar month as recommended by The Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Reflect on the Moon's connection to The Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Many connections between the moon and The Messenger of Allah ﷺ have been made. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was once asked by those around him to show them a sign, and he pointed to the moon which obediently split apart, fell to either side of a mountain and then became whole once again.
The moon was seen by the Prophet ﷺ and give its sincere shahada (testimony) by dying unto itself and then living again as Allah desired.
- Noor Yusuf
The moon was often used as a comparison to the radiance that shone from the face of The Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Sayyidina Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is known to have famously declared:
"I saw The Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a completely moonlit night, and he was wearing two red garments, and by Allah, he was, in my eyes, more beautiful than the moon!"
- Shamail al Muhammadiyya
Poets have written sonnets about the moon, with Noor Yusuf so beautifully pointing that the moon is a Sahabi, a companion of The Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
For the moon is a sahabi; the very last that remain that may be seen on any clear night. The sun and stars have no ardent face of changing rock, but only flames and gases that unceasingly move and disperse in the wide fields of the galaxies. But the moon remains: a mirror physically reflecting the light of the sun, but spiritually reflecting the Nur Muhammadi. (Muhammadan Light ﷺ)
- Noor Yusuf
Were you the same moon that lit
the way of the Prophet,
slipping through the desert on his Hijrah?
- Dawud Wharnsby Ali
Who is this man, they asked?
Whose light shines brighter than the moon and stars?

Reflect the beauty of the moon
During your time out tonight reflect on the beauty of the moon - allowing its beauty and radiance to fill you up - so you can reflect it to those you love. Take from the moon and give back to the world.
Take from your Master
Give back to your Master
Reflect your own beauty
Wear something radiant today and see how you can glow - wear some gorgeous jewellery, put some henna on your hands, wear some perfume, buy some flowers for yourself, smile, and allow yourself to shine and make the world a bright place.
Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized
I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile, just like mine
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!
Happy Full Moon!
